CLIEDIS' Relationship With ACORD

CLIEDIS and ACORD have developed a joint value proposition that establishes the framework of the relationship. The joint proposition is:

"CLIEDIS and ACORD agree to collaborate in the development, promotion and implementation of global Life Insurance standards. CLIEDIS will support the activities of companies using the ACORD standards within the borders of Canada, thereby representing Canadian specific needs to ACORD. ACORD will continue to perform the activities as a global standards organization focusing on all of the needs of the global insurance industry. CLIEDIS and ACORD will encourage companies that use ACORD standards outside of Canada to independently seek membership with ACORD so that their cross-border and global needs are addressed".

CLIEDIS supports the use of ACORD's XML for Life standard and is responsible for assuring future development meets the requirements of CLIEDIS members. CLIEDIS' interests are represented by a CLIEDIS executive member on ACORD's Life Steering Committee.

CLIEDIS members participate to the standards review process. This is important in order to make sure that the individual company's business needs are met by the standard, especially as it evolves into new areas, like group insurance, reinsurance, claims, etc.
