Standards Overview

CLIEDIS supports the ACORD XML for Life standards. Through advocacy, training and implementation support, CLIEDIS is achieving critical mass and making a meaningful and positive difference in the industry.

The Standards Review Committee (SRC), the technical arm of CLIEDIS, is involved in the review of the standards to ensure they meet Canadian member requirements. SRC members review ACORD Maintenance Requests (MRs) for Canadian issues, review CLIEDIS MRs (and cross-reference them against ACORD MRs to ensure there are no conflicts), work on CLIEDIS and/or ACORD working groups and participate at ACORD subcommittee meetings to represent CLIEDIS .

CLIEDIS' Canadian Insurance Transaction Standardization (CITS) initiative is a cooperative effort between CLIEDIS member carriers, distributors and vendors to develop implementation guidelines acceptable to all key industry players and get agreement to implement transactions based on the proposed guidelines. CLIEDIS is nearing completion of the CITS initiative for commissions and is starting Phase 2 for Inforce data feeds in November 2008.
